Enjoy the latest in performance benefits on your multiple RAID configuration support and enhanced SSD. I/O features are supported through the companion AMD SB950. Hi Fred, welcome to the Community! The AMD SB950 is not a true hardware RAID controller, but needs driver support to implement RAID functionality. There are no raid drivers that work for any version of windows on the AMD SB950 raid controller, for SSDs. AMD has known about this issue since 2013, but has done. There are no raid drivers that work for any version of windows on the AMD SB950 raid controller, for SSDs. AMD has known about this issue since 2013, but has done nothing about it. Before Samsung released the EVO 850s, I did not realise this until I had already purchased a set of EVO 850 250gig SSDs. I am able to configure my raid array (Raid-0) & it is visible in BIOS.

But Windows cannot see it, & the driver either fails to load, it isn't WHQL signed from Microsoft. Or the driver loads & the controller cannot allow it to be seen still. Now on any Intel chipset from the P35 to the X99 chipset. The SSDs were visible.

I've tested them. I just recently went to a newer AMD FX-8300, & also wanted to run these SSDs in Raid-0. Without success. I've been looking for any & all ways to get Raid to work on this controller. For about 2 months now. How To Install Portal Gun Mod Gmod Steam. IMO you're better off running without RAID.

In seven years daily I've never seen anything but problems reported with RAID starting with WIndows 7. It's not even redundant (the first letter of its acronym!) since almost everyone reports losing all data if they lose one drive. So with built-in drive imaging now and SSD's the only reason I've heard that is compelling to run it is if working with ultra-huge files for video processing, and that's really running out as an excuse with the size of drives now. Something to think about from the voice of experience with tens of thousands of Windows installs. ---------------------------------- I am a volunteer and not Microsoft.

And FYI I work in the IT industry & used to work for a major PC manufacturer. I've probably installed windows/Linux/iOS more times than I will ever care to remember.

FYI I setup/configured/installed OS' on more raid than non raid. So if business is using it. There must be a reason right? Cause it works. Using this exact hardware on Intel it setup w/ease & was screamin fast.

I just wanted to go newer than my i7 930 that is 6 years old now. It's not really a windows issue other than AMD doesn't have a signed WHQL driver that will work. They probably know they can't get it to work. Thus, nothing has been done about it since 2013. This rig runs adequately with the single SSD, but I don't like having a SSD sit here. Doing nothing. It will run raid, just not on this raid controller.

Other than that thanks for offering zero help & bumping up your post number. Again, not one single post in thousands I've helped with in forums about RAID that was positive - every single one was either a problem or a disaster. And if you already knew the answer then why did you ask? I qualified my opinion as exactly that yet you still reply without even the most basic human decency. ---------------------------------- I am a volunteer and not Microsoft. Miek First I am completely with Greg Rocker on this one and I have 3 decades of fortune 500 IT department experience to back it up plus Innumerable certifications. RAID is an ancient an buggy interface. It has (IMHO) had its day and I can tell you for a fact that most enterprises are not using RAID. Second, as a new user here you may want to take a look at the Code of Conduct which states in part Now can we get back on topic? Guy, I'm very late to this thread.but you should take a look at the Windows forums where tens of thousands of people write about the 'problems' they have or had with Windows.;) By your definition *no one* should be using Windows, either.
